Bargaining Committee Report
2/25/08
Down Weeks
There are now 2 down weeks scheduled for March. March 3 and March 17.
These are considered temporary layoffs therefore there will not be the
option for Members who work in the Indirect classification to cut
themselves back to production.
President Bill Jackson has requested that Illinois Unemployment
Representatives be at the hall next week. A posting will follow with
date and time. The week of March 17th will be a short work week. Make
sure to have your inverse and shift preferences cards updated. The
deadline for next week's layoff is Tues. Feb. 26th.
Attendance Policy
Our International Union and the company have agreed that the nationally
negotiated attendance policy will take effect on March 3rd 2008. If you
have any questions make sure to contact a Union Rep.
C.A.P.
A study was done at Chicago Assembly Plant to see if it was feasible
for them to only run production on day shift. The results have been
sent to corporate for approval. Obviously this would have a dire effect
on us as a plant. As soon as we have been informed officially as to
whether or not it has been approved and would go into effect, we will
communicate it to the Membership.
